Diary
Well, here we are at last. Twelve years after I had the idea of writing a coming-of-age story about a teenage girl’s obsession with her idol, Things I Wish I’d Known is published in paperback (May 13).
Of course, there were a lot of set-backs along the way and the book has since evolved to become a coming-of-age story meets a mid-life crisis story, with alternate chapters set in the eighties and present day, where Claire has found the ’20 Years From Now’ list she wrote as an idealistic teenager and is wondering how her life went so badly off track and whether she can still fulfil her dreams.
I have been with Claire such a long time now that I think of her as a friend and if she phoned me up tomorrow, I really wouldn’t bat an eyelid (sad but true!). I so hope you enjoy the novel as much as I enjoyed writing it. There are the usual mix of laughter and tears along the way and a big heap of eighties nostalgia thrown in.
And if you fancy winning an 80’s time capsule including copies of my three novels, there’s a link to my publisher Headline Review’s fab competition on the new 80’s page on this website. Click here
Please do let me know what you think of Things I Wish I’d Known via the website or Twitter. Look forward to hearing from you.
Linda
